An original illustration by Mandy Shishido featuring little kingyo (goldfish) blissfully unaware that they're about to be scooped up during a matsuri (festival). This design was inspired by one of Mandy's last memories of living in Tokyo when she and a friend spontaneously decided to stop in Iidabashi to go fishing. On the JR line in Tokyo, going from Northwest to Northeast parts of Tokyo, you can often see people fishing at Ichigaya Fish Center when you roll into the Iidabashi train stop. The two friends both commented how they always have wanted to stop by and fish but never actually did it, so they thought, "what the heck! Let's go!" And thus, the image of the baby goldfish being raised at the center lived rent-free in Mandy's mind for years before creating this print!

This 5x7" art print is reproduced on a beautifully textured washi paper using the risograph printing method which is sort of a marriage between traditional and digital printing. Each color is laid down one at a time to create a bright and lovely blending of colors that is much more vibrant than a digital press.

Print is shipped flat with reinforced backing to prevent bending during shipment.
