YOKAI CLUB

Now that it’s a new year, our Japanese traditional club is onto it’s new (old) theme: Yokai! Ripping right into the new year is this Gashadokuro design! Not much has changed from the preview I showed y’all, just a few color changes, and we’re going to be adding glitter & glow in the dark to this design! As always with our Japanese themes, we will have some months where there are variants available and some without. This month will only have this single variant! The design is 1.75” and should be the perfect size for wearing on your lapel if you’re one who likes to wear your pins.

I know you all didn’t get a proper preview, but I hope that makes the design reveal even more exciting! I’m personally very happy with how both designs turned out!

Taka teased me when I said this was probably my favorite Usagi design we’ve done so far because he’s like “you say that every time” but it’s true! I’m already a sucker for sakura and Usagi’s cute jean jacket combo is my favorite! I chose this one just because it fits my own personal style the most, but after looking up some of her other iconic outfits I discovered this was her most worn outfit in the original 90s show, seen in multiple seasons! Since the last Sailor Moon design had her season 1 compact, I thought I’d do her Sailor Moon R compact because this was the outfit she was wearing when she got her new powers! I know I already used this compact in the Cutie Moon V2 design, but what can I say, it’s my favorite of her compacts! 🙈 Usagi’s design will also pair really perfectly with Mamoru’s design from last month!

For Eudial, I was really happy with her more unique face positioning slightly downward like she’s about to attack with her Death busters gun. Eudial is my favorite of the Witches 5 since she was the most competent, so I really enjoyed working on her design. She has loads of screen print and glitter!

Since I already showed a pretty much finished preview in the last email, this design hasn’t undergone too many changes except for some color and the addition of the screenprint. The Kodama will have glow in the dark as will the butterflies to give them a more ethereal feeling, and touches of glitter in the monster curse tentacle thingies. Bear with me on the proper term, I have a bit of a headache that’s been coming on in the last couple hours, so words and things. 🙈

CLUB BOXES SHIPPING OUT + ADDRESS CHANGE?

Now that January designs are out of the way,  and most the pins are graded (I did just get another shipment in so I’m going to work on quickly grading those tomorrow), I’m ready to finally start packing all your boxes up to ship out starting Monday! These are going to be hefty boxes, so if you have a preference for not receiving larger packages due to possible theft where you live, please let me know so I can pack them carefully in larger bubble mailers. Because these packages will contain about 3-10 pins depending which tiers you are in, plus any add-ons or pre-orders, I’ll be planning to include extra insurance for everyone’s orders, but as always, I cannot open a claim if your package is marked delivered by the USPS even if someone stole it. :(

Also, if anyone has moved in the last 2 months, please get me your new address. It’s not enough to just change it on your website account, I need to know your new address so I can update the pre-made labels. Every month when you’re charged, Shopify automatically creates a label with our shipping company, so in order to make sure everything is accurate, I have to make any new address changes to old labels myself.

FINAL THOUGHTS

With the wrap up of the first newsletter of the year, I’d again like to wish you all a happy new year. While I was waiting for Taka to wrap up sketches for Usagi on the 1st, I decided illustrate a dragon design of my own. I’m really happy with how it turned out and I am planning to make prints of this design as well as some wallpapers for you to use on your phones. I’ll upload those to the website in a couple of days for you all to enjoy if you’re someone who is a fan of dragons or excited to manifest an amazing 2024! Dragons have never actually been a motif I was that excited about, but for some reason, this year, I am feeling the dragon vibes for the first time in my life, so I’ve been enjoying learning how to draw dragons here and there over the last couple weeks. 🐉 I’ll likely have a lot more dragon illustrations in the next few weeks in preparation for some of the Lunar New Year events I’ll be vending at starting in February, so stay tuned for those and some other projects I’m gonna be tackling and sharing with you. I’m really enjoying not vending almost at all this month, and trying to get back to being more active online, so I hope you all won’t get tired of new content! :p Thank you all!
